Be Cautious of Suspicious Microsoft-Themed Emails

May 13, 2026
Est. Reading: 1 minutes

Cybercriminals are using increasingly sophisticated phishing scams designed to look like legitimate Microsoft emails and alerts. Because some of these messages are sent through real Microsoft systems, they may appear more convincing and could bypass traditional spam filters.

These scams may include:

• Fake password reset or account verification requests
• Fraudulent purchase or billing notifications
• Links to websites designed to steal usernames and passwords
• Phone numbers directing individuals to “support representatives” attempting to gain access to personal information or devices

How to Protect Yourself:
• Be cautious of unexpected emails claiming to be from Microsoft
• Do not click suspicious links or attachments
• Avoid calling phone numbers included in unexpected emails
• Never provide passwords, verification codes, or sensitive account information through email or over the phone
• Verify requests directly through official websites or trusted contact methods

Red Flags to Watch For:
• Urgent language pressuring you to act immediately
• Messages about purchases or account activity you do not recognize
• Requests to “verify” your login credentials
• Emails containing spelling errors, unusual formatting, or unfamiliar links

At Rally Credit Union, protecting our members’ information remains a top priority. Staying cautious and informed is one of the best defenses against fraud and phishing attempts.

If you believe you may have interacted with a suspicious message involving your Rally account information, contact Rally Credit Union immediately.

To report a Microsoft scammer, use the official Microsoft Report a Scam page to submit details about phone calls, emails, or pop-ups. For phishing emails, forward them to [email protected]. Also, report incidents to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov to help with investigations.
