How to Prepare for Unexpected Events 

When an accident or natural catastrophe occurs the best way to plan for unexpected expenses is to of course make sure that you have started a savings account. After an emergency or disaster your savings account will help you to ensure you, and your family don’t take on additional debt when rebuilding.  

 Checklists to Ensure You’re Prepared

• Protect and Safeguard your Financial Documents: Of course, during a disaster safety is your top priority. We live in the digital world but making sure you have some hard copies available of your financials and identity is vital. Documents to keep in a hard copy format:  

• • Proof of identity (Birth certificate, Valid ID, shot record, passport) 

• • Credit Union Account Information 

• • Ownership of Home documents 

• • All insurance documents  

• Insurance Coverage: Have your car and homeowners insurance coverage printed out. Have an inventory of all your assets and possessions so that you don’t encounter any obstacles if you must do an insurance claim.  

• Stay informed: Always monitor weather updates and alerts from local news station or a trusted network. 

• Avoid FRAUD: During disasters unfortunately criminals and scammers are always on the prowl. These individuals may gather personal information from disasters and may commit identity theft. If you encounter any suspicious activity contact the National Center for Disaster Fraud.

• Have the Rally Credit Union App downloaded: Look at our APP as a mini branch version. Our APP is designed to have all your financials at the palm of your hand. 

• Before a Hurricane, withdraw cash: Outages may occur and may cause difficulties when utilizing debit cards. Visit any of our ITM’s to withdraw your cash. 

• Rally Alerts: Be sure that you have access to our alerts! Our alerts provide you with up-to-date information on your accounts!
