These are often known as AI “voice cloning” that uses artificial intelligence to voice clone with the help of only a few seconds of someone’s real voice. According to CNN Business, Americans lost more than $893 million dollars to AI related scams last year.
Scammers are constantly on the hunt and with the help of modern technology, they are able to use AI voice cloning to mimic anyone from family to professional service workers.
How to Avoid AI Voice Scams
If you fall victim to an AI voice scam, pay close attention to the demands the voice on the other end of the phone is giving you. Creating a sense of urgency, requesting large amounts of money or encouraging you to not tell anyone what is being discussed during the call are signs of AI voice scams.
