Fraud Alert: Scammers Are Impersonating Rally by Phone

We’ve received reports of scammers calling members while pretending to be Rally’s Fraud Department. In some cases, the caller ID may even appear to display a Rally phone number. 

These calls are designed to gain your trust and convince you to provide personal or account information. 

If you receive an unexpected call claiming to be from Rally, hang up and contact us directly using a trusted phone number or one of our official contact methods. 

How the Scam Works

Fraudsters may: 

• Claim they’re calling from Rally’s Fraud Department. 
• Use technology that makes the caller ID appear to be a Rally phone number. 
• Tell you there’s suspicious activity on your account. 
• Create a sense of urgency so you’ll act quickly. 
• Ask for account information or other personal information to “verify your identity.” 

Remember, caller ID can be spoofed. Just because a call appears to come from Rally doesn’t mean it actually did. 

What You Should Do 

If you receive an unexpected call claiming to be from Rally: 

✔ Hang up. 
✔ Contact Rally using a trusted method: 

• Call us using the phone number listed on our website or the back of your debit or credit card. 
• Send us a Secure Message through Digital Banking. 
• Chat with us on RallyCU.com. 
• Visit your nearest branch. 

What Rally Will Never Ask You 

For your protection, Rally will never ask you during an unsolicited call for your: 

• Full account number 
• Debit or credit card number 
• Online Banking username or password 
• One-time security or verification codes 
• PIN 
• Social Security number 

Another Scam to Watch For: Call Forwarding 

Some scammers may also instruct you to dial codes such as *72 or *21 followed by a phone number. 

They may call it a: 

• verification code 
• authorization code 
• case number 
• secure line activation 

It is not. 

These codes can activate call forwarding on some phones, allowing scammers to receive calls and security verification codes intended for you. 

Never dial these codes at the request of an unexpected caller. 

Think You May Have Been Targeted? 

If you’ve shared information or believe you may have interacted with a scammer: 

• Contact Rally immediately. 
• Monitor your accounts for unauthorized activity. 
• Change your Digital Banking password if you believe your login information may have been compromised.
